Pennsylvania YMCA East District Champion Erini Pappas Commits to DI Fairfield

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Phoenixville Area High School’s Erini Pappas has announced her decision to swim for Fairfield University beginning in the 2021-2022 season. Pappas is a rising senior at Phoenixville and she swims year-round for the Upper Main Line YMCA in suburban Philadelphia.

I’m thrilled to announce my commitment to further my swimming and academic careers at Fairfield University.Thank you to all my friends, family, and coaches who have helped me get here! Go Stags!!!”

In March, Pappas competed at the YMCA East District Championships in the 400 IM, 200 breast, and 200 fly. She won both the 200 fly and the 400 IM, and she finished 6th in the 200 breast. Pappas won the 400 IM with a personal best time of 4:24.34, powering to the wall 4.3 seconds ahead of the next competitor. Similarly, she cruised to the wall with a new personal best time in the 200 fly, 6.4 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher and teammate Mac Sullivan. Pappas earned her final best time of the meet in the 200 breast, clocking in at 2:28.28.

In late February, Pappas swam at the Pennsylvania District 1 Girls Championships. She swam the 100 fly and the 100 back, and she swam the backstroke leg of Phoenixville Area High School’s 200 medley relay. She finished 6th in the 100 fly and 7th in the 100 back, and she qualified for the state meet.

The Phoenixville junior swam the 100 fly and the 100 back at the Pennsylvania AAA Girls State Championships in March. She touched 8th in the timed finals heats of the 100 back, earning a new personal best time of 55.80. She made it back in the B-final of the 100 fly, finishing 9th in finals with a time of 55.71.

Top SCY Times:

  • 100 fly – 55.71
  • 100 back – 55.80
  • 200 fly – 2:03.95
  • 200 back – 2:01.87
  • 200 IM – 2:06.81
  • 400 IM – 4:24.34

Pappas will be a strong addition to the Fairfield University roster. Her 400 IM and 200 back times are faster than the current team records. Morgan Hansen — Fairfield record-holder in the 50, 100, 200 fly, and the 200 IM — will graduate before Pappas arrives on campus.

Pappas’s top times would have placed her in the A-final in each of her events at the 2020 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships. In finals, her times could have placed her 4th in the 200 IM and the 100 back, 2nd in the 100 and 200 fly and the 200 back, and she would have taken home the gold medal in the 400 IM.

Fairfield won their third consecutive conference title in March.
