After an emotional summer surrounded by the Olympic Games, 27-year-old Pernille Blume will have some time off from the pool. This fall, she will head to the dance studio to compete on a Danish competitive dance show. Although, she does appear to be just as nervous about her new dance show as she would be for an Olympic final.

“Smiling because this week is full of new exciting things!!! Friday is going to be 🥳🔥I will perform my first dance on Dancing With The Stars and I’m nervous, excited, nervous again (lol) and just happy to be doing it 🙈”

Blume is one of 12 new dancers that will join Vild Med Dans, a Danish dancing show similar to Dancing With The Stars. We have several confirmed contestants for the show: Danish journalist Lise Rønne, influencer Mascha Vang, and footballer Jacob Haugaard. Blume’s partner will be Morten Kjeldgaard, a Danish actor.

Blume is not the only Olympic swimmer joining a dance competition this summer. Great Britain’s Adam Peaty revealed he will be joining the cast of Strictly Come Dancing.

Blume competed in her 3rd Olympic Games last month, representing Denmark in the 50m freestyle. Blume, the reigning Olympic Champion in the 50, won a bronze medal in 24.21.

The past few weeks have been a rollercoaster of emotions for Blume. Just last week, she announced her engagement with longtime partner Florent Manaudou on Instagram.

Blume and Manaudou are both elite sprinters that specialize in the 50m freestyle. In Tokyo, Blume and Manaudou both medaled in their primary event.

Manaudou competed at the Tokyo Games in the 50 freestyle, winning a silver medal (21.55) behind American Caeleb Dressel. This is the 3rd consecutive Olympics that Manaudou has medaled in the 50 free. In 2012, he won the gold from lane 7 after defeating one of the most loaded 50 free heats in Olympic history. In Rio, Manaudou won a silver medal behind Anthony Ervin, who defied all odds and won the 50 free at 35 years old, 16 years after previously winning the event in 2000.

Blume and Manaudou both live in Marseille, France and compete with Energy Standard during the ISL season. Blume will not compete in Season 3 of the ISL, but Manaudou is expected to join the team at some point in the near future.
