NYU Junior Kaley McIntyre Breaks Her Third NCAA D3 Record Of The Week With 48.53 100 Free

2025 NCAA DIII Swimming and Diving Championships

During the final session of the 2025 NCAA Division III Championships, New York University junior Kaley McIntyre broke her own Division III NCAA record en route to winning the 100-yard freestyle. The 22-year-old stopped the clock in a time of 48.53, breaking her own record of 48.58 from last month’s University Athletic Association Championships.

McIntyre’s splitting tonight was eerily similar to her old record, but she took it out 0.10 faster and closed slightly slower by 0.05. See a full splits comparison between her new and old records below.

Splits Comparison:

2024 NCAA DIII Championship Finals  2025 UAA Prelims 2025 UAA Finals 2025 NCAA DIII Championship Finals
First 50 23.47 23.70 23.30 23.20
Second 50 25.32 25.01 25.28 25.33
Total Time 48.79 48.71 48.58 48.53

McIntyre is certainly no stranger to winning NCAA titles. Earlier in the meet, she broke the 50 free record twice, once in prelims (22.30) before winning gold in the final with a time of 22.15. She then proceeded to scare Kendra Stern’s legendary D3 record in the 200 free, scorching a time of 1:44.88, winning the title and missing Stern’s mark by just 0.06. Nonetheless, McIntyre’s 200 swim made her just the second woman in D3 history to go sub-1:46.

Prior to this year’s meet, she was the two-time defending champion in the 50 and 200 free, and was also the defending champ in the 100 free. Last year, she not only broke the 50 free record to win the national title but also broke the 100 record as well, meaning that she’s now accomplished this feat two years in a row.

Interestingly, McIntyre did not swim the 100 free during her freshman campaign, instead opting for the 200 back, where she placed 9th. But ever since then, she has dominated the 100 free, now having lowered the NCAA record four times throughout her career, and she still has her senior to potentially lower the mark even further.

Last year, McIntyre was awarded Division III CSCAA Swimmer of the Year honors after sweeping the aforementioned freestyle events. She could very earn that same honor again this year, especially after this record-breaking spree in Greensboro.
