Niagara University, N.Y. – Great Home Opener for the Purple Eagles as the Men defeated Le Moyne 194 – 68 and the woman victorious by a score of 199 – 63.

Both teams showed their depth with the women winning 13 of the 14 events contested. The men were right behind them winning 12 of the 14 events. Both sides combined for 15 “1-2 finishes”, showcasing great racing.

The day got off to a hot start for the Purple Eagles. Both the men and women’s squads took first and third in the 200 Medley Relays. Natalie Killion leadoff leg of 26.03 was a New Pool Record in the 50 Back.

Mary Carl won the women’s 1000, her first of 3 individual wins on the day. The men’s race saw Andrew Davis win the first race of his collegiate career.

Natalie Killion saw another of her own pool record fall as she clocked a winning time of 55.87 in the 100 Back. After the Men’s 50 Freestyle the Purple Eagles did not lose another race for the day.

Nate Eaton saw his wins in the 100 and 200 Fly come down to the wire. He touched first by less than two tenths to secure his victories. The last induvial race of the day, junior Shani Fridman and sophomore Michael Levine secure victories. This led way to the 400 Free Relay where Niagara finished 1-2 for the Men and Women.

Niagara Falls, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams traveled to take on Niagara University in a pair of dual meets on Saturday afternoon. The men’s team fell to the Purple Eagles, 68-194, while the women’s squad dropped the contest, 63-199.

Women’s Squad:
The 200 medley relay team of freshman Selena Snow (Ijamsville, Md. / Oakdale), junior Madeleine O’Dea (Milton, O.N. / Milton District), senior Brooke Sommo (Guilderland, N.Y. / Guilderland), and junior Kayleigh Bigwarfe (Glenmont, N.Y. / Bethlehem) placed second with a time of 1:51.75.

Freshman Sophia Stinnett (Hillsborough, N.C. / Cedar Ridge) took third in the 200-meter freestyle with a final time of 2:01.85 while placing third in the 500-yard freestyle with a final time of 5:25.29.

O’Dea came in first in the 100-meter breaststroke event with a final time of 1:07.20 while freshman Katelin Fawcett (Littleton, Colo. / Thunderridge) took third, coming in at the 1:09.17 mark. O’Dea added a second place finish in the 200-meter breaststroke with a final time of 2:27.56.

Fawcett added a second place finish in the 200-meter IM, coming in at the 2:14.04 mark.

Bigwarfe finished third in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 25.24.

Sommo came in at the 2:15.13 mark in the 200-meter backstroke, placing her third in the event.

Freshman Shea Gillespie (Oro Medonte, O.N. / St. Joseph’s) earned second place in the 100-meter butterfly with a final time of 1:01.76.

Men’s Team:
The 200 medley relay squad consisting of freshman Owen Daniels (Rhinebeck, N.Y. / Redhook), sophomore Lucas Clay (Baldwinsville, N.Y. /C.W. Baker), sophomore Alexander Pilieci (Ottawa, O.N. / John McCrae), and senior Justin Enser (Hilton, N.Y. / Hilton) took second in the event, coming in at the 1:34.23 mark.

Sophomore Michael White Jr. (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / C.W. Baker) earned third place in the 200-meter freestyle with a final time of 1:45.44 before taking third once more in the 500-meter freestyle, coming in at 4:59.11.

Clay earned first place in the 100-meter breaststroke with a final time of 56.66, while taking second in the 200-meter breaststroke after coming in at the 2:04.95 mark.

Pilieci came away with second place finishes in both the 100 and 200-meter butterfly events, finishing with final times of 51.65 and 1:55.88, respectively.

Enser took first place in the 50-meter freestyle, coming in at the 21.74 mark.

Junior Michael Han (Auckland, N.Z. / Pakuranga College) placed third in the 100-meter freestyle event with a final time of 48.21.

What’s Next:
The Dolphins will compete in Rochester, N.Y. as they take on Roberts Wesleyan University in another pair of dual meets at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1.
