Olivet Nazarene Women, Eastern Illinois Men Earn Wins In Split Dual

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. — Olivet Nazarene University’s swim teams gave a strong performance in their dual meet against Eastern Illinois University on Saturday. The Women’s Team defeated EIU, while the Men’s Team fought hard in a close defeat.

Women’s Highlights

Starting strong for the women’s team was Grace Barnhart, with first place finishes in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:05.30) and 500-yard freestyle (5:23.50). Skylar Chandlee finished first in the 200-yard freestyle (2:02.53). ONU also topped the competition in the 400-yard freestyle relay of Mia Points, Taylor King, Kayla Parry, and Alyssa Osborn (3:44.30). Like Barnhart, two other Tigers notched multiple victories on Saturday. Mackenzie Bushey finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.28) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:27.75). Sprinter Alyssa Osborn, who anchored the relay team, also earned victories in the 100-yard freestyle (55.47) and the 200-yard IM (2:16.64).

Men’s Highlights

ONU’s men’s team touched the wall first in five races. Alejandro Artega Restrepo started things off with a first place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (1:46.81), while Jacob Fincher won the 200-yard butterfly (1:58.68) and 100-yard butterfly (52.06). Porter Hoffman notched another victory for the Tigers in the 50-yard freestyle (21.92) and Jack Fries narrowly escapted with a win in the 200-yard IM (1:58.33). ONU also finished on top in the one-meter dive with Talon Mather notching a score of 175.10.

  • Women: Olivet Nazarene University – 133, Eastern Illinois University – 128
  • Men: Eastern Illinois University – 158, Olivet Nazarene University – 117

The Tigers host the Cardinals of North Central on Saturday, Nov. 8 in the Perry Center.

The Eastern Illinois Swim Team traveled to Olivet Nazarene this past weekend. EIU men’s swimming won their meet 158-117, recording their first victory of the season. The Eastern Illinois women’s swimming team lost 133-128.

Men’s Swimming: As a result of winning their first swim meet of the season, the Panthers brought home multiple first-place finishes.

The Men 400 Yard Medley Relay took home first place with a time of 3:29.23. The relay team included Alexander SadowskiNolan WallaceEddie Myers, and Simonas RimskisEddie Myers took home first place in the Men 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 10:07.53. Sadowski took home gold in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a finishing time of 52.11. Nolan Wallace continued his winning ways, resulting in a gold medal in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 57.67. Simonas Rimskis finished first in a thrilling 100 Yard Freestyle. Rimskis won by 0.01 seconds.

Women’s Swimming: EIU women’s swimming opened the meet with a 400 Yard Medley Relay victory with a time of 4:02.20. The relay included Jenna PatridgeGenevieve BiberdorfSophia Buswell, and Maja Przybylska.

Jenna Patridge would go on to win the Women 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:00.00. Patridge also won the Women 200 Yard Backstroke with a final time of 2:09.75. Sophia Buswell took home a gold medal in the Women 200 Yard Butterfly with a time of 2:14.86. Buswell also won the 100 Yard Butterfly, finishing in 59.28 seconds.

EIU will be back in action on November 13-15th at the SIU A3 Performance Invite.
