Nate Germonprez On Fast Swims At Texas Vs Tennessee “The atmosphere here was amazing”

Texas vs Tennessee

Nate Germonprez of Texas posted the top time in the NCAA this season in the men’s 100 breaststroke with a 50.62 in Friday’s dual meet against Tennessee. It was the 2nd meet of the season for the Longhorns after Germonprez posted a 51.87 to open the season at Alabama two weeks ago.

Germonprez is one of the favorites for the men’s 100 breaststroke at the 2026 NCAA Championships in March as he was 3rd in the event at the 2025 NCAA Championships. The event graduated six out of eight ‘A’ finalists, meaning the final will look much different this year. Among the new names expected to be a contender is Texas teammate Campbell McKean who finished 2nd behind Germonprez in a 51.63 on Friday. The two combined to earn all of SwimSwam’s pre-season NCAA picks, with Germonprez receiving three votes and McKean receiving four.

The Texas men will be back in action for their midseason meet, the Texas Invite, at home from November 19-21.

Campbell McKean went 22.26 ON A RELAY SPLIT at this meet. That would have been 0.11 off the fastest ever by Julian Smith who is known to take it out…

No he didn’t. Soft touch on the backstroke.

When first saw the result I suspected as much, as more was expected of his backstroker, but it seems he was likely still one of the fastest 3-5 splits so far this season. :22.8 maybe?
