VMI Hires Adam Zaczkowski From Le Moyne As Next Head Coach

VMI has announced Adam Zaczkowski as the men’s and women’s next head swimming and diving coach. Zaczkowski fills the position previously held by Scott Thacker who departed the program last month to be the next head coach at Army.

“I am happy to accept the position of Head Swimming and Diving Coach at VMI,” says Zaczkowski. “I want to thank AD Walton and Superintendent Lt. Gen. Furness. Throughout this process, VMI’s history and culture are a place that I want to be a part of. My family is excited to be in Lexington.”

Zaczkowski arrives after most recently spending the last four seasons as head coach and aquatics director at Le Moyne. Prior to being head coach, he served as an assistant coach in 2014 and from 2019-2022. In 2021, he was named the Special Assistant to the Director of Athletics.

Le Moyne notably made the transition from Division II to Division I in 2023 and is now a full active member starting this fall. During his time with Le Moyne, the team swam to 40 school records.

The Le Moyne men finished 3rd while the women were 7th at the 2026 NEC Championships. VMI will be in its first season in the NEC this upcoming school year and will also host the 2027 NEC Swimming & Diving Championships at Goodall Pool in the VMI Aquatic Center. The school departed the America East Conference where VMI was 4th out of six teams on the men’s side and 7th out of seven teams on the women’s side.
