Molly Warner, Lauren McNamara Announce They Will Transfer From Marshall To Pitt

Two of Marshall’s top swimmers from this past season will transfer to Pitt for the upcoming 2026-2027 season. Lauren McNamara and Molly Warner will join the Panthers this fall.

The two follow coach Ian Walsh, who was announced as Pitt’s head swimming coach at the start of the month. Walsh coached the program as Marshall announced in February that it would cut its program at the end of the season. The school reinstated Marshall swim and dive in March.

McNamara made history as she became Marshall’s first American Conference Champion in the 200 fly as she won the title in a 1:58.16. McNamara was also 6th in the 100 fly (54.23) and 16th in the 200 IM (2:03.85) at the 2026 American Conference Championships. She will enter her junior season this fall.

McNamara’s Best SCY Times:

  • 200 fly: 1:58.16
  • 100 fly: 54.10
  • 200 IM: 2:03.79

McNamara’s best time in the 200 fly would have been 2nd on Pitt’s roster this past season, only behind Sydney Gring who has since transferred to NC State after the coaching change.

Warner was an ‘A’ finalist in all three of her events at the 2026 American Conference Championships. She was 3rd in the 200 IM in a lifetime best 1:59.88, her first time under 2:00, 4th in the 400 IM in a 4:16.78, and 7th in the 200 fly in a 2:01.63. Warner will enter her senior season this fall.

Warner’s Best SCY Times:

  • 200 IM: 1:59.88
  • 400 IM: 4:16.78
  • 200 fly: 2:01.00

Warner’s best time in the 200 IM would have been 3rd on the Pitt roster this past season, behind Gring (1:54.96) and Kimmy Shannon (1:57.25). Shannon will transfer to Tennessee this season as she also transferred after the coaching change. Warner’s best time in the 400 IM would have been 2nd on the roster, only behind Shannon’s 4:04.82.
