Mid-Michigan Aquatics’ Alexandra Davis Signs With Saginaw Valley State

Coach Bruce Zimmerman, who is building the Saginaw Valley State University program from the ground up, has received a commitment Alexandra Davis, a sprint and mid-distance freestyler from St Johns, Michigan.

Davis attends St. Johns High School, where she is getting ready to compete in the 2014 Michigan Lower Peninsula Division 2 State Championships this weekend. Davis is seeded eighth in the 200 free and seventh in the 500 free. Last year she swam the 200 and the 500 frees and anchored St Johns’ 200 medley and 400 free relays.

Davis also swims for Mid-Michigan Aquatics, and her best times in the 200 free (1:56.04) and 500 free (5:12.07) would both have scored in the B-finals of last year’s Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship.

This 2014-15 season is the inaugural year of the women’s program at SVSU, and the Cardinals are off to a strong 7-1 start. The first men’s season will be in 2015-16.
