Matthew Josa of Queens University has broken the NCAA Division II Record in the men’s 200 yard backstroke on Saturday Morning’s prelims at the 2013 USA Swimming Winter National Championships.

Josa swam a 1:43.03, which clears the 1:43.41 set by then-junior Jeb Helfacre of Florida Southern at the 2012 NCAA Division II Championship meet.

Josa leads the nation early this year in multiple events, and if he stays at Queens for all four years has the potential to overhaul over half of the national record book.
