Luca Urlando Gets Coaching from Michael Phelps: GMM presented by SwimOutlet.com

Gold Medal Minute presented by SwimOutlet.com

Luca Urlando is one of swimming’s biggest rising stars, winning his first national title in the 200 butterfly at the 2019 National Championships.  Luca’s been turning heads for awhile, but his 1:53.8 200 fly at the Clovis Pro Swim in June, breaking Michael Phelps’ legendary 17-18 National Age Group Record, seemed to capture everyone’s attention–even Michael Phelps. Phelps DMed Luca and offered a little coaching advice.

See Luca’s 1:53.8 200 fly NAG race video here.

If you have Michael Phelps messaging you personally, you’re becoming a star. Period.

Urlando is back in the pool for World Junior Championships, swimming a full schedule, including the 200 fly.

PREDICTIONS?

I think Urlando goes off at Jr Worlds, taking titles in…
100 fly – 51.5
200 fly – 1:52.5
200 free – 1:46.5

But who cares what I think.  What do you think?

Yup Carson is national team and isn’t even close to his final form, OTs will be silly fast for both of them, and the 2021 NCAAs might give us a 1:36 200 butterfly from Luca, close to/new record times in both IMs from foster and of course the first 1:28 from Dean. Gonna be a incredible next 18-19 months of swimming

Dean 100 back record? Austin Katz 200 back record? Max Mchugh 100/200 breastroke record? Best NCAAs ever!

Look at us already predicting 2021 NCAAs, Dean will probably have been elected president by then

2020 Prediction: After taking 9 golds at the Tokyo Olympics by deck-entering 7 events (given an exception by the IOC), Farris is unanimously elected President of the United States in an emergency election and appoints Santo Condorelli as vice president.

So what *is* the connection between Santo and Dean? And wouldn’t there be some birtherism with Santo?

Y’all forgetting Luca’s going to Georgia, will just get to NCAAs unrested and spend three days trying to work out why the pool’s so small.

Mel doesn’t run his predictions by us first…so he speaks for himself lol.

Minakov is definitely the favorite in the 100. If Luca wins with a 51.5, I’d be surprised. I’d be less surprised if Luca went faster than 51.5.
