Kate Douglass swam to a new US Open record in the short course meters (SCM) women’s 100 freestyle en route to a win at the first of three stops in the World Cup Series. Douglass touched in a 50.83, breaking the previous record of a 51.00 set by Siobhan Haughey back at the 2022 edition of the World Cup series at the Indianapolis stop.

Douglass was faster on the first 50 compared to Haughey and that was the difference maker today.

Douglass has a lifetime best of a 50.73 that she swam at the 2024 SCM World Championships. She is the #6 performer of all-time, one slot ahead of Haughey whose best time of a 50.79 from 2021 during the ISL.

This is the second US Open record for Douglass this week as she also posted a 2:13.97 in the 200 breaststroke on Friday night. She has the chance to lower both records next weekend at the second stop in Westmont, Illinois. The 100 free and 200 breast are her only two SCM US Open records and she holds the 200 breast and 200 IM long course meters (LCM) US Open records.
