15 year old Joey Eaddy continued his strong spring, winning the boys 1000 free to conclude Ithaca Sectionals. Eaddy touched in a 8:56.37, moving him all the way up to #16 all-time in the boys 15-16 age group. His previous best of a 9:05.24 from the start of the month had sat at #68 all-time. He now sits ahead of names such as Michael Phelps and Bobby Finke.
Jonathan Packles already won the 100 back at the meet and touched 1st in the 200 back here with a 1:44.16. He was just off his lifetime best of a 1:44.00. Packles was just ahead of Eaddy who swam to a 1:47.39 for 2nd.
Holden Brown kicked off his night with a 2nd place finish in the 100 free as he swam to a 44.20, dropping 0.42 off his best time. Hunter Zipperer won the event in a 44.13, a 0.77 second drop. In the next event, Brown won the 200 IM in a 1:48.58, dropping 0.13 seconds off his previous best.
Winning the sprint 50s on the night were Zack Kusch and Alex Daile. Kusch won the 50 breast in a 25.34 while Daile won the 50 fly in a 21.96.
Leading the way on the girls side was Riley Anderson, who swam to two wins. Anderson’s first win came in the 100 free as she touched in a 49.35. The Duke commit has a lifetime best 48.82 in the event. Later in the session, she won the 50 fly in a 24.27.
16 year old Savannah Bowers won the 200 IM in a 2:00.44. She won the event by almost three seconds. Bowers’ best time sits at a 1:59.96 from March 2025. She is committed to Ohio State for fall 2027.
Carly Afanasewicz has had a strong meet so far and earned another win, touching in a 1:54.84 in the 200 back. She has been as fast as 1:53.40 before.
Also swimming to wins were Sarah Zhang and Veronica McCall. The 15 year old Zhang won the 1650 free in a 16:30.86. McCall won the 50 breast in a 28.96.
