Louisville Commit Maddy Brennan Posts 9:52.78 1000 Free On Night 1 Of Ithaca Sectionals

Sectionals kicked off in Ithaca with the distance session on Thursday night. The meet is in short course yards format and about 2.5 hours away from Buffalo Sectionals that is being competed in long course meters format.

Highlighting night 1 was Maddy Brennan of Peddie Aquatic Association. Brennan won the 1000 free in a huge lifetime best of a 9:52.78. Brennan dropped over eight seconds off her previous lifetime best of a 10:00.87 that she swam for 3rd at this meet a year ago. Brennan is a Louisville commit. The team’s fastest 1000 free this past season came from Thilda Hall who opened her 1650 free at ACCs in a 9:32.52. Hall was 7th in the 1650 free and 10th in the 500 free at last week’s 2026 NCAA Championships.

Touching end in a 9:57.80 was 15 year old Milly Birch. Birch was the top seed coming into the day with a 9:55.50.

Winning the 1650 free on the boys side was 15 year old Joey Eaddy of Revolution Aquatic Club. Eaddy swam a lifetime best 15:19.58 just last month but dropped another 17 seconds today with a 15:02.01 for the win. Eaddy’s time today moves him all the way up to #24 all-time in the 15-16 age group. Eaddy flipped in a 9:05.63 at the 1000 free mark, which was just off his 9:05.24 that he swam last month at the New England CRIM Championships.

Clarion commit Evan Ream dropped 17 seconds off his lifetime best for 2nd in a 15:36.80. Ream’s previous best was a 15:54.27 from 2025 NCSAs.
