Carter Kobielski, Justin Shi Each Win Two Events To Close Buffalo Sectionals

The final night of competition in Buffalo featured Carter Kobielski who won two events. Kobielski first swam to a win in the 100 free, touching in a 52.08, just 0.02 off his best of a 52.06. Later in the session, he won the 50 fly in a 25.13.

Justin Shi also won two events on the final evening. Shi dropped 1.28 seconds en route to a win in the 200 IM with a 2:07.79. He closed the session with a win in the 200 IM, touching in a 2:05.93, only 0.63 seconds off his best from July.

After winning the 100 breast earlier in the week, Jake Regenwetter won the 50 breast here in a 29.18. He was faster in prelims with a 28.91. He finished his collegiate season last month with Brown at the 2026 Ivy League Championships. 16 year old Avery Heron won the boys 1500 free in a 16:02.11, gaining only 0.16 off his entry time.

The Vercollone sisters had a strong final evening. 18 year old Ava Vercollone closed with a win in the 200 IM, touching in a 2:21.84, dropping 0.56 from her previous best. She is committed to East Carolina for this fall. 15 year old Hartley Vercollone dropped 1.04 seconds en route to a 2nd place finish in the girls 200 back as she touched in a 2:23.13. Emily Kellerman won in a 2:20.50, a 3.25 second drop.

After winning the 1500 free to open the meet, Shannon Conway swam to a 9:02.09 in the girls 800 free. She has been as fast as 8:59.04, a time she swam back in 2023.

Winning the 50s were Emma Conway and Amelia Marek. 17 year old Emma Conway won the girls 50 breast in a 33.88. Marek, who competes collegiately for Florida State, won the 50 fly in a 27.09. Fellow Florida State teammate Antonina Biegajlo swam to a 58.12 to win the 100 free, just 0.12 off her best time.
