Swim Instructors

Job Description:

Swim Instructors (Newton)
The Aquatics Department of the Jewish Community Center in Newton has immediate openings for Swim Instructors. Swim Instructors teach swim classes for babies, children and adults using the SwimRight® Method which is a part of the Lenny Krayzelburg Swim Academy that was adopted this fall at the JCC. Swim Instructors should have experience teaching swim lessons and enjoy working with children. Swim Instructors are mostly needed for afterschool and weekend hours.

The Lenny Krayzelburg Swim Academy (LKSA) is a unique aquatics education program organized around swimming foundations and designed with an emphasis on safety. From the age of three months, children (and adults) can start at any time–and learn and progress at their own pace! Students are taught the SwimRight® method, which focuses on correct body positioning and proper alignment from the early stages of lessons. Progress is captured in personal swimming journals complete with fun exercises and lots of positive reinforcement! As swimmers advance, they participate in safety tests to confirm their proficiency, enabling them to move ahead with a sense of accomplishment and pride.

To become an instructor, there is a 40 hour training that must be taken. The 40 hours is a mixture of watching videos, learning about the method and program, co-teaching, teaching on your own and a test at the end. You will also be paid for training!
