HEAD SWIM COACH – JOB DESCRIPTION

The Head Swim Coach of the City of Midland Aquatics, Inc. shall provide leadership for the development and implementation of both short-term objectives and long-range goals of the swim team.  The Head Coach shall be responsible for supervision of employees, swim team budget and administration of the day to day swim team operations.  The Head Swim Coach shall adhere to the Official Rules and Regulations/Staff Handbook of City of Midland Aquatics, Inc.

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT:

• The Head Coach is responsible for setting the direction and the vision for the team.
• The Head Coach will administer all portions of the Competitive Swimming portion of COM.
• The Head Coach shall design, schedule and conduct work-outs and practices.
• The Head Coach will supervise all swim coaches and practices.
• The Head Coach shall coordinate all aspects involved in hosting competitions.
• The Head Coach shall schedule meetings with parents as required.
• The Head Coach is responsible for all swimmers while on the premises.

PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT

• The Head Coach will be responsible, subject to the approval of the Executive Director for negotiating contracts with coaches and other full-time staff to include provisions for salary, benefits, annual performance review, and contract renewal or termination.
• The Head Coach will be responsible for employment, supervision, counseling and termination of all hourly and part-time employees under guidelines provided by fair labor standards and practices.

• The Head Coach will be responsible for recruiting new personnel.
• The Head Coach will be responsible for appropriate coach development and will ensure that all COM employees are certified for their positions.

COMMUNICATION

• The Head Coach shall communicate with the Executive Director regarding the status of programs on a regular basis.

• The Head Coach shall attend regular staff meetings and individual meetings as required by the Executive Director.

• The Head Coach shall educate and inform members and parents of the structure and operating philosophy of COM.

• The Head Coach shall properly address parent issues and complaints.

GENERAL

• The Head Coach shall operate the Swim Team within the approved budget.
• The Head Coach will be responsible for recruitment and marketing of the swim team.
• The Head Coach is responsible for all record keeping necessary for the competitive teams such as attendance, best times, etc.
• The Head Coach shall assist in the organization of the Splash-A-Thon and other fund-raising events.
• The Head Coach will participate at the LSC, TSA and USA Swimming Levels as needed.
• The Head Coach will assist the President with special programs as needed.
• Maintain regular hours as approved by the Executive Director.
