Georgia’s Tynan Stewart Wins Men’s Division I Elite 89 Award

The Georgia swimming & diving teams have swept the 2014 NCAA Division I Elite 89 Awards, with Ty Stewart taking the men’s award. He joins his fellow Bulldog sophomore Chantal van Landeghem, who was given the women’s award last week.

Stewart, from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, has a 4.0 while majoring in English.

This honor is given at each of the NCAA’s 89 championships to the student-athlete competing at the final championship site who has the highest GPA.

In the water, Stewart placed 8th in the 400 IM, 19th in the 200 IM, and will swim in the B-Final as the 10th seed in the 200 back on Saturday night.
