17 year old Gavin Keogh swam to a new Summer Juniors Meet Record with his win in the 200 backstroke, touching in a 1:57.88. That broke the previous record of a 1:58.42 that Josh Zuchowski swam back at the 2022 edition of the meet.

Split Comparison

Keogh was much faster on the final 50 of the race as he was 0.43 seconds faster than Zuchowski was coming home.

Keogh notably finished 11th in the event at US Summer Nationals touching in a 1:58.72 in finals. He swam slightly faster in prelims with a 1:58.40. This was his first time swimming the event since Summer Nationals.

With his best time today, Keogh moves up to #16 all-time in the 17-18 age group after previously sitting at #21. His previous best time was a 1:58.19 that he swam last summer at Junior Pan Pacs while he was still in the 15-16 age group. That swim still sits at #6 in the 15-16 age group.

Keogh is set to join NC State this fall and is the #7 ranked recruit in the boys high school class of 2025. He leads the class in both short course yards backstroke events.
