Futures Finalist Kyle Brill Commits to UC Santa Barbara Gauchos for 2021

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

The University of California at Santa Barbara has picked up a verbal commitment from Canyons Aquatics Club’s Kyle Brill. He is a breaststroke specialist who is entering his senior year at Hart High School.

I’m so exited to announce my verbal commitment to UCSB! Thank you to my coaches, friends, and family that has gotten me to this point In my life. Not only have I chosen just to swim and study at UCSB, I’ve chosen the school because I truly feel I belong there. From the vibes you get from campus with everyone biking everywhere, to seeing the great community around Isla Vista, I know the school is meant for me. Cheers to a great next four years! Go Gauchos!!!

In August of 2019, Brill competed at the USA Swimming Futures Championships at Mount Hood. He swam the 100 and 200 breast, the 400 IM, and three relays for Canyons. He made it back into the C-final in both breaststroke events. He finished 22nd in the 200 breast and 21st in the 100 breast. He swam his fastest 100 breast time on his team’s 400 medley relay, splitting a time of 1:06.60. He swam the third leg on the 400 free relay, and he anchored the 800 medley relay.

Last April, he swam at the Foothill League Championship meet in the 100 breast and the 200 IM. He went a 58.61 in the prelims heats of the 100 breast, touching 4th in finals. He placed 4th in prelims of the 200 IM (1:56.49) and finished 5th in finals. He swam the breaststroke leg of Hart High School’s gold-winning 200 medley relay, splitting a time of 26.81. Additionally, he swam the second leg of their 200 free relay, which finished 4th.

Top SCY Times:

  • 100 breast – 56.44
  • 200 breast – 2:02.97
  • 200 IM – 1:51.72
  • 400 IM – 3:58.17
  • 100 back – 51.75

Brill will join the Gauchos in the fall of 2021. His top times would have placed him in the B-final of the 200 and 400 IM, and the C-final in the 100 and 200 breast at the 2020 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships.
