French Teenager Ferreira Warned After Positive Doping Test

The Disciplinary Panel of the French Swimming Federation has given a warning to 17-year old swimmer Lisa Ferreira after she tested positive for Terbutaline at the French Swimming Championships in Mulhouse on June 29th.

This is the same substance for which the Danish Swimming Federation suspended Frans Johannesen for three months last week.

Ferreira is an average young distance swimmer who has been 2:13 and 4:39 in the 200 and 400 freestyles in long course.

Turbutaline’s primary mainstream use is as an anti-contraction medication to delay preterm labor for up to 48 hours.

It can also be used to treat short-term asthma, and is a bronchodilator, which increases airflow to the lungs.
