St. Croix Swim Club’s Warren Sexson has given his verbal commitment to swim for the University of Denver next fall. The distance freestyler is the Pioneers first commitment for their incoming class of freshmen.

Sexson’s Top Times

  • 200y free – 1:43.38
  • 500y free – 4:36.07
  • 1000 free – 9:31.00
  • 1650y free – 15:53.44

Sexson has seen huge drops from 2014 to 2015, including 8 seconds in the 500, 19 seconds in the 1000, and almost 21 seconds in the mile.

Denver’s distance group last year was led by now-senior Dylan Bunch, who finished 7th in the mile and 19th in the 500 at last year’s NCAA Champs.

Bunch will graduate before Sexson gets to campus, but the senior’s success in the longer races may have been a factor in Sexson’s decision to join the Pioneers. Regardless, the Minnesota native would’ve easily scored in the 500 free B final and his 1650 time would’ve earned him 5th place last year at the Summit League Championships.
