Longmont, Colorado’s Maddie Black has verbally committed to the University of Iowa for 2020-21. She will join Alexa Puccini and Alyssa Graves in the class of 2024.

Black swims for Silver Creek High School, where she is a senior, and the club team Elevation Athletics. She specializes in freestyle and backstroke and was an A-finalist in the 50 free (4th with 24.05) and 100 free (7th with 53.64) at the 2019 Colorado CHSAA Girls’ 4A State Championships last season. In club swimming, Black had a very successful long-course season over the summer, rewriting her personal-best times: 50 free (27.26), 100 free (1:00.86), 200 free (2:21.26), 100 back (1:09.52), and 200 back (2:32.61). She finaled in the 50 free at Mt. Hood Sectionals and was top-8 in both the 50 free and 100 free at Colorado Swimming LSC Long Course Open.
