15 year old Charlie Cancelmo of Seattle Metropolitan Aquatic Club moved up the all-time rankings with his 3rd place finish on night one in Irvine. Cancelmo posted a 1:58.27 in the boys 200 butterfly, a time that sits at #9 all-time in the 15-16 age group and right ahead of Carson Foster who notably represented the US in the event just yesterday at the 2025 World Championships.

Cancelmo has made huge progress in the event this season. He entered the year with a lifetime best of a 2:03.85. He already improved upon that time a month ago posting a 2:02.13 and then breaking the 2:00 mark for the first time with a 1:59.53 at the Pacific Northwest Senior Championships. That swim had sat him at #23 in the age group. He still has another year in the age group to move up from #9 as well.
