Philosophy

Our philosophy is simple!  We want a club that teaches the importance of learning the value of hard work and dedication in a team atmosphere.  We pride ourselves on not only having great swimmers but swimmers who excel at anything that they do.
Our coaching philosophy revolves around teaching solid fundamentals.  We are not a high yardage program so all of our in the pool work is done with quality in mind.  Speed with great habits will take swimmers a long way!

Activities

We have done a lot of fun activities throughout the years.  A couple of our favorites are our team bike trips.  We ride from Libertyville High School to the beach with a bunch of older and younger swimmers and parents.  We arrive at the beach and have a big team picnic.
We also enjoy doing treat tuesdays.  On Tuesday nights after practice a parent will bring in a post practice snack that the kids consume while hanging out together and just being social.

Challenges

In the fall of 2010 and spring of 2011 our pools, yes both of them, were shut down to meet pool drain compliance.  During those times we were renting facilities in Illinois and Wisconsin for swim practice on a daily basis, running dry land practices at our local facilities.  Our staff was over worked, most coaches were on deck or with the kids seven days a week.  Despite being displaced twice our swimmers out performed our previous year and resulted in CATS being awarded the USA Swimming Bronze Medal.

Tough Set

The Swim Team Store SpotlightWe really like to stress the legs and our senior swimmers really have a great set that is challenging and tough.    We go the following

1 x 100 Kick @ 155
1 x 100 Kick @ 200
1 x 100 Kick @ 150

1 x 100 Kick @ 145
We keep dropping 5 seconds until the fastest kicker stops making the set.  We have had kids make it to 105 in yards and 115 in meters.   As swimmers stop making the set they continue the repeats at the last time they made the interval.  After the set the kids usually have a hard time standing on deck!
