Caleb Caponera is progressing up the boys’ 15-16 age group rankings this season in the 200 fly, moving up to 19th after his performance at the Michael Lohberg Invitational.
Caponera swam a personal best time of 2:04.72 to finish 2nd in the 200 fly, He also swam a time of 2:06.70 in prelims, which at the time topped his previous personal best of 2:08.86.
In addition, Caponera claimed the 200 breast in 2:22.28, and swam personal bests to finish 2nd in both the 50 breast (30.06) and the 100 breast (1:07.76).
Other individual standouts were:
- Javier Nunez Barreras, a rising sophomore at Virginia Tech, clocked a personal best time of 22.89 to claim the boys’ 50 free. He also won the 100 free (50.27) and 50 fly (24.57) and was 2nd in the 200 free (1:51.97).
- On the girls’ side, 10-year-old Reign Belzer of Florida Atlantic Aquatics won seven titles in her age group, most notably swimming personal best times to capture the 100 free (1:09.09) and the 50 fly (34.28). Belzer also won the 200 free (2:31.34), 50 back (37.78), 100 back (1:21.83), 100 fly (1:18.17) and the 200 IM (2:52.10).
- Emma Han, a 17-year-old for Wahoos of Washington, produced personal best times to win the girls’ 100 breast (1:14.13) and 200 breast (2:43.34), and also claimed the 50 breast in 34.99.
- Anthony Pineiro, an incoming freshman for Florida State, won five titles in the boys’ competition. He clocked personal best times to win the 200 free (1:51.64) and 200 IM (2:08.90), and also won the 50 back (926.69), 100 back (58.65) and the 200 back (2:05.49.
- Talitha McEwen, who’ll be a junior in the fall at Florida Atlantic, won the 400 free in 4:30.51 and was 2nd in the 50 back (personal best 31.30), 100 back (1:06.95) and 200 back (2:22.65).
