Auburn Adds Junior Nationals Qualifier Izzy Iwasyk to Class of 2028

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Izzy Iwasyk, a Summer Juniors qualifier and five-time Pennsylvania HS State finalist, has announced her commitment to Auburn University. She is expected to arrive in Auburn ahead of the 2024-2025 season.

I’m beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Auburn University!! I would like to thank my family, friends, teammates, and coaches who have always been there for me!! I also would like to thank everyone at Auburn for giving this opportunity and I can’t wait to be part of the family!! WAR EAGLE🦅💙🧡

Iwasyk currently attends Unionville High School in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. Outside of high school season, she trains and competes with Diamond State Aquatics out of  Wilmington, Delaware.

During her three years of high school, Iwasyk has qualified for the Pennsylvania 3A (larger schools) State Championships every year. In 2021 she achieved 2nd place in the 50 free (23.48), in 2022 she was 3rd in the 50 free (23.17) and 5th in the 100 free (50.91), and in 2023 she finished 6th in the 50 free (23.60) and 8th in the 100 free (51.97).

Iwasyk has also been awarded All-American and Scholastic All-American honors all three years of her high school career to date.

Best Times SCY:

  • 50 free- 22.92
  • 100 free- 50.64
  • 100 back- 57.30
  • 100 fly- 56.17

In August, Iwasyk competed at Speedo Junior Nationals in the 50 LCM freestyle. She ultimately finished in 80th with a time of 26.93, just .43 seconds off her best time of 26.60, set earlier in the summer.

Under 2nd year head coach Ryan Wochomurka, the Auburn women finished in 7th place with 688 points at the 2023 SEC Championships. In 2022, they also finished in 7th, but with only 584 points. They went on to send 8 athletes to the NCAA Championships, where they collected a total of 14 points.

With one more year of high school to go, Iwasyk’s current times should fit nicely into the middle of Auburn’s current sprint group. At the 2023 SEC Championships, Iwasyk’s 50 time would have placed 32nd overall and 5th for Auburn. The top four Tigers finished in 10th, 26th, 30th, and 31st with times ranging from 22.31-22.90.

Starting with the incoming class starting in 2023, Auburn is working on rebuilding their historic sprint power. Of the 12 girls beginning this fall, the sprinters include Wyllo Hanson (22.95/49.14), Morgan Carteaux (22.63/49.85), Lawson Ficken (22.65/48.67), and Kara West (22.87/50.55).

With her commitment, Iwasyk joins 9 other recruits in the class of 2024, including fellow sprint specialists Audrey Olen (23.36/50.37) and Bella Ekk (23.30/49.80).
