For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Andrew Seifert from Cedar Rapids, Iowa has announced his commitment to continue his academic and athletic careers at Dordt University beginning in fall 2026.
“I am privileged to announce my commitment to Dordt University to continue my academic and athletic career. I would like to thank my family and coaches for supporting me through this process. I would also like to thank the coaching staff at Dordt for providing me with the opportunity to continue my swimming career. Above all I thank God for blessing me with the skills and opportunities to find success in swimming and for blessing me with the opportunity to continue to find that success at Dordt. I am excited to see what God’s plan is for me in the coming years! Go Defenders!!”
Seifert competes for Kohawk Aquatics out of Cedar Rapids and most recently competed at the Iowa Short Course Championships. He went six for six in state titles including lifetime bests in the 50 free (19.83), 50 fly (21.59), and 100 fly (47.49).
He is currently a senior at Cedar Rapids Washington High School and swam to two state titles in February at the IHSAA Boys State Championships. He swam to a lifetime best 43.25 in prelims of the 100 free as well as a 52.67 in prelims of the 100 breast before going on to win both events in finals. He also swam to Iowa State records in both events. With his wins, Seifert earned swimmer of the meet honors.

Pedro Henrique Brandao made the cutline for the 2026 NAIA Championships in the 200 breast with a 2:04.38, and also led the team this season with a 56.48 100 breast. Marcus Seifert led the team’s sprint group this season with a 20.87 50 free and a 46.31 100 free.

His 100 breast time would be their 100 back record…good for Dordt! Other colleges need to take notes on their recruiting.
He’s going there for religious purposes, not for the athletics.
New program and his brother swims there. They also gave Drew the highest offer last fall (compared to other D1 and D2 institutions).
The fact he kept improving this SCY season is a testament to Drew’s ability to train hard and the support of his club coaches, high school coaches, family, and his teammates.
But… why?
“Dordt University is a private evangelical Christian university in Sioux Center, Iowa. It was founded in 1955 and is affiliated with the Christian Reformed Church in North America. The university name is a reference to the Synod of Dordt.“
Oh, now I get it
What the heck is a Dordt?
HulkSwim storms back with a VENGEANCE!
Also it’s the bastardization of “Dort” which is the local nickname for the town of Dordrecht in the Netherlands where a 17th century Calvinist thing happened.
I haven’t seen you in a WHILE
