The 3rd day of the 2026 American Conference Championships saw Rice expand their lead in the team standings. Liberty is holding strong in 2nd, while East Carolina is fighting off FIU for 3rd.
Liberty sophomore Aly Bozzuto won her 2nd event of the week, clocking a 59.57 in the 100 breast. The time comes in just off her career best of 59.17, which she set at last year’s ASUN Championships. Bozzuto already earned her ticket to the NCAA Championships next month via her win in the 50 free a few days ago, but her time in the 100 breast was well under the qualifying time as well.
Liberty also won the 100 back, where Gwyn Frick finished in 52.92. She clipped her personal best of 52.97 with the swim. Unfortunately, Frick was just off the NCAA qualifying time of 52.65.
Marshall sophomore Lauren McNamara won the 200 fly in 1:58.16. That performance marks a new career best, clipping her previous best of 1:58.35, which she set back in the fall.
Rice won the relay on the day, which was the 800 free relay. Ava Portello (1:47.03), Avery Karacz (1:48.39), Ava Hamblett (1:48.95), and Reese Cole (1:47.72) combined for a 7:12.09, winning the event by 3.5 seconds. Other noteworthy splits in the field include Kamryn Cannings‘ 1:45.92 lead-off leg on the Liberty relay.
The diving event of the day was 3-meter, which East Carolina’s Frida Guzman Zuniga won with a score of 378.45. Guzman Zuniga’s performance marks a new AC Championship Record, bettering her own record mark from 2024. North Texas’ Kamryn Wong was 2nd with a score of 354.90, which was also over the previous championship record.

Way to go Aly!!
