The New York University women’s swimming and diving closed out the 2025 slate with their final meet of the fall semester, hosting Division I Fordham University and the divers from The College of New Jersey (TCNJ).
The Violets emerged victorious over the Rams, 197-103.
Divers from all three schools started the day. NYU’s Meera Kasturi took third in the three-meter competition with a 264.55 score. Fordham’s Katie Laverty (302.90) and Mya Bokeman (269.45) topped the podium.
In the one-meter action, Kasturi led the Violets with a fourth-place finish (265.75). Laverty took the win for the Rams.
“I thought the women dove well against a Division I team. Meera had a great meet, doing a few new dives,” said Diving Head Coach Todd Kolean. “We would have liked to help the swimmers more point-wise, but I’m happy where we are leading into the break.”
The Violets opened the swim portion of the meet with a narrow second-place finish in the 200 medley relay, with the NYU “A” team (Maeve O’Donnell, Babette Bradley, Nicole Ranile, Llew Ladomirak) finishing in 1:45.14, just under half a second behind Fordham’s “A” team.
Emery Muller turned in her best time of the season in the 1000 freestyle (10:29.10), pacing the field by over five seconds. Aanya Wala took third in 10:35.70.
Kaley McIntyre led the way in the 200 freestyle (1:52.94), with Ladomirak making it a 1-2 finish for the Violets.
The home team took the top spots in the 100 backstroke as well, with O’Donnell (57.65) and Sarah Pierson (58.19) besting the field.
Sammy Wong (1:04.54) took first place in the 100 breaststroke, with Bradley (1:05.94) finishing over half a second clear in second place.
Ranile shined in the 200 butterfly race, leading the field by over two seconds and finishing in 2:03.39. Reina Gomez took second with a 2:05.67 time.
Kaley McIntyre continued her sprint success, taking the 50 freestyle in 23.33. Lian Jeong Engle (24.18) rounded out the podium in third.
Jeong Engle improved her place in the 100 freestyle, moving up to second with a 51.94 finish. McIntyre took first in 51.23.
The Violets swept the podium in the 200 backstroke, with Eloise Emig (2:04.31), Pierson (2:07.40), and Calista Lynch (2:08.09) finishing 1-2-3.
Wong (2:19.73) swept the breaststroke races with a first-place finish in the 200 breaststroke. Bradley took third (2:23.41).
Muller doubled up the distance wins to finish out her day, taking first in the 500 freestyle (5:08.87). Bethany Spangler (5:11.11) and Wala (5:11.36) were neck-and-neck for second and third places.
Ranile beat out Gomez by 0.05 seconds in the 100 butterfly, with Ranile winning in 57.43 seconds.
The meet wrapped up with two final races: the 200 individual medley (IM) and 200 freestyle relay.
Bradley (2:08.44) hung with eventual winner Karina Kanary of Fordham, but took second by just 0.44 seconds. Romberg (2:11.01) held off teammate Lina Wordelman for third place.
The top two Violet teams led the way in the 200 freestyle relay to close out the meet. NYU’s “A” team (McIntyre, Jeong Engle, Ladomirak, O’Donnell) paced the field by nearly three seconds, finishing in 1:33.83.
The Violet swimmers return to action on January 14 against Gettysburg College, with the full team returning on January 17 against Johns Hopkins for Senior Day.

The Violets emerged victorious over the Rams, 194-104, and Lions, 211-89.
Divers from all three schools started the day. NYU’s Makai Harder (222.35) and Nolan Jennings (220.40) took second and third, respectively, in the one-meter competition. Fordham’s David Vargas Garcia took first with a 318.30 score.
In the one-meter action, Harder led the Violets with a second-place finish (222.35). Jennings took third for the Violets with a 220.40 score. Varges took the win for the Rams.
“I was happy with the men’s dives today,” said Diving Head Coach Todd Kolean. “Makai is starting to get his dives back after some time away from the pool.”
The Violets opened the swim portion of the meet with a narrow victory in the 200 medley relay, with the NYU “A” team (Teddy McQuaid, Sean Li, Pierce Downs, Greg Wehbe) finishing in 1:31.02, just under 0.03 ahead of Fordham’s “A” team.
Blake Wang scored a podium spot in the 1000 freestyle for the Violets, taking third with a 9:46.55 time.
Pierce Downs led the way in the 200 freestyle (1:40.36) with Conner Dean (1:42.75) making it a 1-2 finish for the Violets.
The home team took the top spot in the 100 backstroke as well, with McQuaid (50.23) taking first and Jacob Lin (50.78) in third.
Li (56.93) took first place in the 100 breaststroke, with fellow Violet Victor Derani (57.02) finishing just behind in second.
Maksym Nechydyuk earned a win in the 200 butterfly race, leading the field with a time of 1:53.56. Jacob Lee took third with a 1:55.07 time.
In the 50 freestyle, Wehbe was just 0.04 off the lead and took third with a 21.00 finish.
Downs took first in the 100 freestyle, scoring a 45.16 finish.
The Violets swept the podium in the 200 backstroke, with McQuaid (1:53.13), Hodge Dauler (1:53.52), and Lin (1:53.74) finishing 1-2-3.
Derani (2:04.19) scored a first-place finish in the 200 breaststroke race. Nechydyuk (2:06.23) and Bitz (2:09.25) completed the podium.
Wang secured a silver finish in the 500 freestyle (4:43.62).
Lee placed third in the 100 butterfly, clocking in at 51.23.
The meet wrapped up with two final races: the 200 individual medley (IM) and 200 freestyle relay.
NYU scored all three podium finishes in the 200 IM, as Dean (1:53.57), Nechydyuk (1:54.25) and Derani (1:57.28) went in order.
The top Violet relay team led the way in the 200 freestyle relay to close out the meet. NYU’s “A” team (Downs, Daniel Gustin, Li, Wehbe) finished in 1:22.59.
The Violet swimmers return to action on January 14 against Gettysburg College, with the full team returning for Senior Day against Johns Hopkins on January 19.

New York, N.Y. – (December 6, 2025) – The Fordham swimming & diving team had its final competition of the semester on Saturday with a tri-meet against The College of New Jersey and NYU at NYU’s Palladium Athletic Facility.
WOMEN’S MEET
- Fordham fell to NYU by a 197-103 as the lone dual meet score as TCNJ pulled out of the women’s meet
- The Rams’ Katie Laverty put together a stellar day, winning both diving events, while also setting a new school record in the one-meter dive.She scored a school record 318.05 on the one-meter board, breaking the mark of 317.25 by Millie Haffety in 2022, while netting a winning score of 302.90 on the three-meter board.
- Karina Kanary won the 200 individual medley event in a time of 2:08.00, while taking second in the 200 breaststroke (2:22.37) and third in the 200 butterfly (2:05.82).She was also a part of the winning 200 medley relay with Ella Montgomery, Lexi Lundell, and Saskia Aikman in 1:44.41.
- Aikman earned a second place finish in the 50 freestyle (23.89), while being third in the 100 freestyle (51.95) with Montgomery coming in third in the 100 backstroke (58.39) and 100 butterfly (57.72) events.
- Campbell Stever was second in the 1000 freestyle at 10:34.25 and fourth in the 500 freestyle (5:17.31).
- Other top performers included Daisy Mitchell in the 200 freestyle (3rd – 1:56.23), Lundell in the 100 breaststroke (3rd – 1:06.54), and Tera Brilmyer in the 200 backstroke (5th – 2:13.06).
- The final event saw the 200 freestyle relay team of Lundell, Aikman, Montgomery, and Magdalena Wlodarkiewicz take third in 1:37.57.
MEN’S MEET
- The Rams defeated TCNJ by a score of 155-139, while falling to NYU, 194-104.
- Quinn MacPhail and David Vargas both won multiple events on Saturday.MacPhail took first in the 1000 freestyle in 9:24.80 and the 500 freestyle in 4:37.93, while Vargas swept the diving events with score of 318.30 (1M) and 402.35 (3M).
- Max Maycher won the 50 freestyle in a time of 20.96 seconds, while grabbing second in the 100 butterfly (51.14).He was also a part of the top Fordham relays in the 200 medley relay (2nd – 1:31.05) and the 200 freestyle relay (2nd – 1:23.22).
- Daniel Ribeiro had a pair of second place finishes in the 100 backstroke (50.65) and the 100 freestyle (46.28).
- David Topi was the best performer in the 100 breaststroke in third place at 57.11, while Ben Ohrr was fourth in the 200 backstroke (1:54.10).
- Other top performers included Bryce Wilkens in the 200 freestyle (7th – 1:44.55), Kevin Yum in the 200 butterfly (5th – 1:56.45), and Juan Abella in the 200 breaststroke (8th – 2:14.87) and 200 individual medley (8th – 2:00.35).
WHAT’S NEXT
- Fordham is now off for Winter Break until January 13th, when they travel to Rider for a 6:00 PM meet.

NEW YORK, N.Y. – On Saturday afternoon, a trio of TCNJ women divers battled against the formidable opponents of NYU and Fordham.
On the 1-meter, Beth Evaldi led the way for TCNJ once again, earning a score of 241.5. Hannah Simons and Jenna Ringel were also in action, posting scores of 190.30 and 150.10 respectively. On the 3-meter Evaldi posted a 5th-place mark of 244.35, while Ringel and Simons got scores of 223.75 and 196.60.
The Lions will be in action next on January 16 for a home meet against Rowan.
NEW YORK, N.Y. – On Saturday, the #14 TCNJ men’s swimming and diving team closed out the calendar year with a battle against elite opposition.
The Lions dropped both matchups against #8 NYU and Division-I Fordham. However, the Lions only fell to Fordham by 15 points thanks to some hard-fought 1st-place points against the Rams. Joe McChesney highlighted TCNJ’s afternoon with a victory in the 100 Breast (50.02).
TCNJ also had a trio of runner-up finishes thanks to Will Heinze, Pablo Salazar, and M.J. Hoban. Heinze placed in 2nd in the 1000 Free (9:46.39), which was good for 1st-place points against NYU. Salazar had his runner-up finish in the 200 Fly (1:54.46) where he logged 1st-place points against Fordham. Finally, Hoban was the runner-up in the 50 Free (20.97) where he gained 1st-place points against NYU. Later in the meet, Hoban also placed 3rd in the 100 Free (46.72).
Also taking 1st-place points against Fordham were Gabe Beverini and Derin Ozbas. Beverini did it twice, first in the 200 Breast (2:09.26) and then in the 200 IM (46.72). Ozbas did it in the 200 Free (1:43.35), an event in which he also got 2nd-place points against NYU.
For the TCNJ divers, it was Wyatt Marble and Joshua Kosukhin in action in the 1-meter and 3-meter. In both events, Marble and Kosukhin placed in 5th and 6th respectively. Marble posted a 166.00 and 184.65 in the 1-meter and 3-meter respectively, while Kosukhin earned a 155.00 and 155.55.
The next action for TCNJ will be on January 10 when the Lions face off against Johns Hopkins and Washington and Lee.
