Luka Mijatovic swam to a new 15-16 National Age Group (NAG) record on the final night of competition in Austin, posting a 7:48.28 in his win. He broke the previous NAG record of a 7:52.05 that was set by Larsen Jensen back at the 2002 Pan Pac Championships. Mijatovic dropped five seconds off his previous personal best.

Compared to his previous personal best, the biggest difference was the fact he consistently stayed under the 30-second mark with the exception of on 30.00 split tonight. He also was over half a second coming home on the final 50, charging home in a 27.53.

With his swim tonight, Mijatovic becomes the #12 American all-time in the event. He moved up after previously sitting outside of the top 25.

I wish he would swim the 1500 and take a crack at that 15:02 15-16 NAG record before he ages up I 100% think he could break it right now.
