Hubert Kos swam to a meet record in the men’s 200 backstroke in a 1:54.21. That broke the old US Open meet record of a 1:54.59 that was set by Nicholas Thoman back in 2009.

Kos was faster on the first three 50s tonight, with the biggest difference coming on the opening 50. Kos was 0.69 seconds faster than the old record at the first turn.

The swim tonight was the 3rd fastest of Kos’ career. He has only been faster during finals of the 2025 World Championships as well as during finals of the 2023 World Championships.

Alexy was faster tonight on his opening 50 compared to this morning. He faded coming home but was out fast enough to get under the record.
