Arizona State junior Ilya Kharun posted an 18.68 butterfly split as the Sun Devils won the 200 medley relay Saturday against Tennessee at the CSCAA Dual Meet Tournament. That marks the fastest flying split in history, shaving .10 seconds off the 18.78 he produced at the 2025 NCAA Championships.

Kharun now owns the top four 50 fly splits in history, and seven of the top ten. See the full list below.

Top 10 50 SCY Fly Relay Splits in History:

1 18.68, Ilya Kharun (2025 CSCAA Dual Meet Tournament)
2 18.78, Ilya Kharun (2025 NCAAs)
3 18.79, Ilya Kharun (2025 USC vs. ASU)
4 18.89, Ilya Kharun (2024 Wolfpack Elite Invite)
5 18.90, Jordan Crooks (2023 SECs)
6 18.90, Ilya Kharun (2025 Eddie Reese Showdown)
7 18.91, Ilya Kharun (2025 ASU vs. UNLV)
8 18.97, Josh Liendo (2024 NCAAs)
9 19.05, Gui Caribe (2025 NCAAs)
10 19.08, Ilya Kharun (2025 ASU vs. Arizona)

Pre-college, Kharun’s 50 fly wasn’t as heralded as his 100 and 200. He won the 200 fly NCAA title as a freshman, when he trained primarily under then-head coach Bob Bowman, but with the Arizona State sprint program now thriving under new head coach Herbie Behm (who specifically leads the ASU sprint group), his short-burst abilities have improved.

Outside of the 50 fly, Kharun won the 200 fly by nearly four seconds, clocking a personal best of 1:37.56 to rank #2 in the NCAA this season, just behind the 1:36.41 NCAA Record that Georgia junior Luca Urlando threw down less than 24 hours ago.

Yesterday, in the tournament dual versus Virginia, Kharun won the 100 fly in 43.80, his third-fastest time ever. He currently leads the nation in that distance with his season-best 43.55 from a dual meet versus USC earlier in the month. He capped off the day with an 18.40 leadoff on ASU’s winning 200 free relay, which sliced 0.01 off his personal best from a time trial on Thursday.

He also helped ASU win the 400 medley and 400 free relays, producing splits of 43.35 and 41.27. His 100 free time was his second-fastest of the season, trailing only the 41.23 he posted at the USC dual meet, and it stands as the fourth-quickest of his career. His best remains the 41.03 he clocked at the Eddie Reese Texas Showdown last January.
