For just the second time in the boys 11-12 national age group, a swimmer has cracked the 55-second barrier in the 100 free. In Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, on Saturday at the 2026 SWAT Summer Grand Prix, 12-year-old Caleb Goodavish clocked a new lifetime best and the fastest time ever in the age group by more than two-tenths of a second.
Goodavish, who represents the Verona Area Swim Team in Verona, Wisconsin, clocked 54.65 in the event, surpassing Ayden Tan‘s former 11-12 National Age Group Record of 54.91 from the Adam Szmidt Memorial Summer AG Championship in July of 2025.
That swim also made Goodavish just the 2nd-ever swimmer to crack the 55-second barrier as an 11-12-year-old. Prior to this race, Goodavish’s best time was 55.54, set in late May at the Jack Pettinger Invitational.
Top 5 11-12 Boys 100 Free Performers:
- Caleb Goodavish – 54.65 (2026)

Goodavish is continuing to build his momentum after notching nine wins at the NCSA Age Group Championships this past March, which included a pair of meet records in the 50 and 200 freestyles, oddly enough not the 100 free.
In addition to the success that Goodavish saw in the 100 free, he also found his way into the 11-12 record books in the 200 free, touching in 2:00.54, the 3rd fastest time in NAG history, only trailing Winn Aung (1:59.72) and Owen Ekk (2:00.00) in the NAG all-time standings.
His 200 free lifetime best previously sat at 2:02.72, set at the Jack Pettinger Invitational in May.
