Elizabeth Dekkers delivered a tremendous performance in the women’s 200 fly on night four of the 2026 Australian Swimming Trials, breaking her own All Comers Record in the event with a time of 2:04.95.

The St. Peters Western swimmer, 22, shaved .25 off of the record, which she last set back in 2024 with a time of 2:05.20 and which also stood as her previous lifetime best.

After clocking a time of 2:06.65 during the morning session, Dekkers turned up the heat in the final to break the 2:05 barrier for the first time and smash her All Comers Record, which signifies the fastest time that a swimmer from any nation has ever produced on Australian soil.

Despite being 2nd at the 50-meter mark, Dekkers had the fastest opening 100 of anyone in the field, taking it out in 1:00.21. The first half of the race saw her locked in a close battle with Brittany Castelluzzo, who turned at the 100 in 1:00.39, but Dekkers pulled away on the back half, hitting the wall over a second ahead of Castelluzzo at the 150 mark before splitting 1:04.74 on the second 100 to stop the clock a full two seconds ahead of runner-up Castelluzzo.

Dekkers was out over half a second faster tonight than she was during the opening 100 of her last record-breaking performance, which made up for the fact that her second 100 was a few tenths slower tonight.

Split Comparison

New All Comers Record Old All Comers Record

200 2:04.95 (32.85) 2:05.20 (32.30)

Dekkers’s performance makes her just the 13th woman in history to go sub-2:05 in the 200 fly and only the third Australian, joining countrywomen Jessicah Schipper and Madeline Groves on the all-time ranking.

Probably should mention it was her first time under 2.05 in the title.
