The younger sisters of two of college swimming’s storied names have been on a tear this weekend at mid-season collegiate invites in Utah and Columbus.
At the Utah Tech-hosted Trailblazer Invite, Kaydence Bispo, the youngest sister of former Texas star and US National Teamer Karlee Bispo, swam 22.77 in the 50 free.
Kaydence swims for San Diego State, where the school record is 22.74.
Kaydence’s four older siblings were all Division I college athletes. Her three sisters swam at BYU (Kerra and Kassy) and Texas (Karlee), and her brother Brad played football at UC Davis.
Karlee was a swimming legend – she never lost a race at the high school level and won 28 All-America awards at the University of Texas, which at the time was the most allowed under NCAA rules.
Meanwhile, at the Ohio State Invitational in Columbus, University of Cincinnati junior Lindi Worrell broke a school record in the 200 breaststroke. Her time of 2:11.55 took almost a full second off the old record of 2:12.44. That mark was jointly owned by Josefin Wede from 2011 and Julie Rose from 2025 at 2:12.44.
Worrell entered the season with a best of 2:14.93 in that event, but already cleared that three weeks ago at the team’s tri meet with Oakland and Purdue, swimming 2:14.10. In total, she has dropped 3.33 seconds in the 200 breaststroke this season.
Worrell is a breaststroker who finished 8th in the 100 at last year’s Big 12 Championships (1:00.62), but after a big leap in the 200 over the summer in long course, is now powering ahead in short course to match.
Lindi Worrell is the younger sister of former Louisville star and Olympic gold medalist Kelsi Worrell (now Dahlia). Kelsi arrived on the scene in the NCAA in 2013 and by 2015 was shifting paradigms about what was possible in her specialty event, the 100 fly. She wound up winning three career NCAA titles and a gold medal at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games as part of the 400 medley relay.
Lindi’s older sister Taylor swam for South Carolina, her older brother Kyle swam for Louisville, while her older brother Jared and younger sister Skylar both dabbled in swimming before settling on volleyball.
Not only are both Kaydence and Lindi younger siblings of swimming superstars – both come from big families. Yet both are carving out space for their own names and their own journeys among the big flashing lights of their family names.
