If this year’s Washington Interscholastic Activities Association Girls 1A/2A State Championships is any indication, it’s going to be awfully hard for teams to catch Bainbridge High School in the near future.

Bainbridge rolled to its second straight title and ninth overall, winning by more than 200 points over runner-up North Kitsap Senior.

Even worse for other schools is that Bainbridge has a roster dominated by non-seniors, so it will be hard to pry the trophy from its hands in the future.

Bainbridge won all three relays, starting with the 200 medley, where the team of junior Olivia Longridge (29.81), junior Lena Everett (32.68), freshman Aria Michael (25.74) and freshman Rylee DuPont (24.19) won in a time of 1:52.01.

In the 200 free relay, the Bainbridge quartet of sophomore Camden Brown (26.46), sophomore Lily Rehder (25.77), sophomore Audrey Keigley (25.76) and DuPont won in a time of 1:42.24.

Bainbridge then won the 400 free relay behind the team of Keigley (56.39), Longridge (56.44), Rehder (56.09) and Michael (54.47).

Even with all of Bainbridge’s underclassmen stalwarts, the two biggest individual standouts were a pair of seniors, East Valley’s Brigid Dinnen and Steilacom’s Ava Field.

Dinnen, who has committed to Idaho, repeated as champion in both the 50 free (personal best 24.26) and the 100 free (52.87).

Committed to Northern Arizona, Field repeated as champion in both the 200 IM (2:07.52) and the 100 back (57.44).

Other individual winners were:

  • Redher in the 200 free with a personal best time of 2:01.36.
  • Marysville Pilchuck senior Jill Thomas prevailed in 1-meter diving with a final score of 245.75.
  • Michael won a state title in her first state meet, taking the 100 fly in 58.39.
  • Blaine senior Hailey Ferrell repeated as champion in the 500 free, coming in with a personal best time of 5:20.08.
  • Ellie Field of Steilacoom took the 100 breast in a personal best time of 1:08.06.
