VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Villanova men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams made a strong home debut Saturday against La Salle at the Villanova Swim Complex. The women topped the Explorers 181-114, and the men recorded a 168-132 victory.
The meet was highlighted by a new pool record from Arabella Lee, who clocked a 54.99 in the 100 Fly to break the previous Villanova pool record of 55.08, set by UPenn’s Vanessa Chong. Lee also added a win in the 100 Back with a time of 55.78, ranking her eighth all-time in program history.
Hugh Boris continued Villanova’s strong day in the pool with a win in the 200 Breast, touching first in 2:02.27, a mark that places him eighth on Villanova’s all-time performers list. Alana Leen also joined the record-book, winning the 200 Back in 2:00.11, which moved her to 10th all-time in program history.
On the women’s side, Peri Gaguzis (10:14.90) and Riley Hull (10:23.69) had a 1-2 finish in the 1000 Free. Riley Kudlac led a sweep in the 200 Free (1:50.26), followed by Marlene Blanke (1:52.08) and Annie Mee (1:53.44). Kudlac added another win in the 50 Free with a time of 23.68, while Martina Lonati took the 100 Free in 51.89.
Anna Farley earned a win in the 200 Fly at 2:00.63, and Emily Herr added another victory in the 200 IM with a time of 2:05.18. Marlene Blanke claimed the top spot in the 500 Free with a time of 5:05.74.
Michelle Kasulka led the Wildcats with runner-up finishes on both the 1-meter (255.08) and 3-meter (243.23) dives.
For the men, Owen Nye and Patrick Casey each earned a pair of top finishes. Nye won the 1000 Free (9:30.69) and 500 Free (4:38.52), with Casey taking second in both races.
Sam Randall grabbed a win in the 200 Free (1:40.06) and finished second in the 100 Fly (49.90). Max Christensen added a victory in the 200 IM (1:52.86), while Hugh Boris claimed the top spot in the 200 Breast (2:02.27).
On the boards, Nate Warson swept the diving events with scores of 291.75 on the 1-meter and 299.10 on the 3-meter.
Up next, the women travel to Philadelphia on Nov. 5 to face Penn, while the men head to Providence on Nov. 8.

Villanova, PA — The La Salle swimming and diving teams competed against Villanova at the Villanova Swim Complex Saturday morning for their third meet of the season. The men fell to the Wildcats, 168-132, while the women dropped their meet by a score of 181-114.
The Explorers opened the competition with a sweep of the 200-yard medley relays. The women’s quartet of senior Gabriela Herbreder, senior Carlota Ungo, sophomore Camilla Frost, and senior Victoria Fenn took first with a time of 1:41.03 (also a new facility record), while the men’s team of sophomore Noah Fredriksson, freshman Nicolas Medvedev, senior Felix Jedbratt, and junior Carter Perkins claimed victory in 1:29.76.
The men continued their momentum with several standout performances. Perkins earned wins in both the 50-yd free (20.44) and 100-yd free (44.89), while Jedbratt captured the 200-yd butterfly (1:47.88) and 100-yd butterfly (47.58). Jedbratt’s time in the 100-yd fly was also a facility record. Freshman Blaise Hofmann led a 1–2–3 Explorer finish in the 100 backstroke with a winning time of 50.40, and won the 200-yd back with a time of 1:51.22.
On the women’s side, Ungo picked up two victories, winning the 100-yd breaststroke (1:03.85) and 200-yd breaststroke (2:18.10). Herbreder added a runner-up finish in the 100-yd back (55.92) and third in the 200-yd breast (2:24.36), while Fenn placed second in the 50-yd free (23.75).
On the diving side of things, junior Tiffany Brawn led the way with first-place scores on both the 1-meter (255.38) and 3-meter (255.45) boards.
La Salle closed the meet with victories in both the men’s and women’s 400-yd freestyle relays. The women’s team of Fenn, senior Rosalia Marin Martinez, senior Maren Schermerhorn, and sophomore Beren Celik finished in 3:28.35, while the men’s squad of Perkins, Jedbratt, junior Austin Wakefield, and senior Tarik Gusic clocked 3:01.9 to cap off the meet. That time, along with Perkins’ leg split, both set new facility records.
The Explorers return to action on Thursday, November 20 when the swimmers compete in the Queens Fall Frenzy, while the divers travel to West Virignia to take part in the WVU Diving Invite.
