Gretchen Walsh followed up her Saturday showing on the 50 butterfly, where she obliterated the World Record in 23.72, with another record breaking swim in the 100 fly on day three in Carmel.
Walsh stormed to the wall in 54.43, notching new U.S. Open and World Cup records in the event.
Walsh was untouchchable in between the lanelines, finishing over a second and a half ahead of fellow American Alex Shackell in 55.97, the two will be side by side tonight for the championship final.
The swim took down Maggie MacNiel’s World Cup record of 54.78 from 2022 and Jeanette Ottesen’s 2015 U.S. Open mark from 2015 of 55.10.

Walsh split 11.44/13.76/14.32/14.91 this morning, but will still have plenty of ground to make up if she wants to lower her own all-time best mark of 52.71.
For reference, Walsh split 11.16/13.02/13.91/14.62 in Budapest last year at the World Championships when she set the current World Record.
Walsh will be in lane four tonight as she looks to continue her stellar showing at the first stop of this World Cup Circuit.
