Canada’s Josh Liendo did not advance to the semifinals of the men’s 50 freestyle in Singapore, falling to 30th in prelims with a 22.22.
His time was over .3 away from 16th-place, which saw a tie between Martin Kartavi of Israel and Santo Condorelli of the United States in 21.91.
Liendo came into the meet as the #6 seed in the event, entered with a 21.48 from the 2024 Canadian Swimming Trials. He took 4th at the Paris Olympics last summer, where he posted a 21.58.
Shortly before taking on the 50 free this morning, Liendo raced the prelims of the 100 fly and placed 4th overall in 51.04 to safely land in the semifinals of the event. He already raced the 50 fly earlier this week, finishing 13th in a lifetime best 23.11.
Australia’s Kyle Chalmers also missed the semifinals in the 50 free. He tied for 20th in 22.05 alongside Lamar Taylor of the Bahamas. Coming into the World Championships, he was the #13 seed in this event with an entry time of 21.68 from the Australian Swimming Trials in June.
A strong sprint freestyler, Chalmers tends to focus more on the 100 than the 50. He already won bronze in the 100 free in 47.17 in Singapore and helped his team bring home a gold medal in the 4×100 free relay, anchoring in 46.53.
Chalmers’ performance this morning brought his individual campaign to a close, while Liendo will race the 100 fly semifinals tonight.

Chomp chomp!
Makes Dressel’s triple look incredible. That man used to drop a 49 100 fly, 21 low 50 free, and 47 low 100 free in a span of 2 hours like it was nothing.
The man was so consistent at his peak, really gonna miss that butterfly split on the medley later
When you gonna realize that Dressel was ÐØP!NĞ?
