Locked out of the medal table, thus far, the British will be looking to put themselves into a good position by having a strong prelims swim in the Men’s 4×200 Free Relay. In Paris, the British, who were the defending champions, posted the fastest preliminary time of 7:05.11, and backed it up in the final, winning their second consecutive gold medal in the event with a time of 6:59.43, tying the Americans as the only team to have swum sub-7:00 minutes on three separate occasions.
With just two heats, both are circle-seeded, and as the top seeds, Team GB has an advantage of seeing what the times posted in the first heat are. Looking to earn them a spot in final, the Brits will lead off with Jack McMillian, with the rest of the team comprised of James Guy, Evan Jones and Tom Dean. Last summer, Guy and Dean were both part of the prelims relay and were joined by Duncan Scott and Matt Richards in the finals.
The number two seeds, the United States, have opted to go with the team of Chris Guiliano, Rex Maurer, Henry McFadden, and Gabriel Jett. The US only selected five members for this relay, due to roster constraints, so 2025 Worlds Silver Medalist Luke Hobson might be the only addition to the team, but they could also call upon Carson Foster, who was a member of that 4×200 silver medal-winning relay from Paris.
The Australians have likely left Flynn Southam in reserve for tonight, and could also call upon Elijah Winnington, as the are using the line-up of Edward Sommerville, Charlie Hawke, Kai Taylor, Maximillian Giuliani to kick things off.
The Chinese have opted against using an off-form Pan Zhanle on the prelims relay, as Pan missed making the semifinal in the individual event.

Marchand needs to be in final
again: ISR swimmers should be subject to the same sanctions as Russia
Might be a lot of state-sponsored whatever in Israel, but at least doping wasn’t one of them.
That alone should have gotten RUS suspended from all competition.
I really hope Alexy gives the 200 a try at some point.
1:48 incoming from Dean…
Not resting James guy for the final?
They’re are already resting Richards and Scott, too much of a risk to rest Guy with Tom Dean not in form and Evan Jones an unknown.
Hoping Carson is healthy enough to bring on tonight. With so few teams it seems unlikely any of the favorites miss in qualifying, though crazier things have happened.
Easy for you to say, not feeling bullish as a Brit ha
