Ethan Reniewicki Posts Another Lifetime Best With 22.90 50 Free To Close Mt Hood Sectionals

Highlighting the final night in Oregon was Ethan Reniewicki who swam to a 22.90 in the 50 freestyle. The Ohio State commit previously swam a lifetime best in the 200 free at the meet. He entered the meet with a best time 22.98 that he swam last month for 36th at US Summer Nationals. He entered the summer with a 23.53 as his best time and has tons of momentum before heading to Ohio State this fall.

Also earning a win on the final night was Jake McCoy as he touched in a 2:02.36 in the 200 IM to win by almost four seconds. That was his third win of the meet after also winning the 400 IM and 200 back. The Tennessee commit dropped over two seconds off his previous best of a 2:04.63 from April 2024.

Hudson Martz won the 800 free on night 1 and completed the distance sweep winning the 1500 free as well, touching in a 15:55.18. Finishing two seconds behind was Ashton Joswiak who touched in a 15:57.27.

The girls side was highlighted by Ella Gaca Thiele who won the 50 free in a lifetime best 26.08, faster than her previous best of a 26.14. She touched just ahead of Wyoming’s Tara Joyce who swam a 26.09.

Danielle Gleason won the 1500 free in a 17:27.71. The rising sophomore at Missouri has a lifetime best 16:48.85 from 2023 Summer Juniors that earned her a 7th place finish.

Louisville’s Camden Doane swam to the win in the 200 IM to win by over a second as she touched in a 2:19.53. She was slightly faster in prelims with a 2:19.51.
