Highlighting night 3 of Sectionals was Drew Eubanks who swam to a 1:01.60 in the 100 breaststroke. Eubanks has a best time of a 1:00.79 that he swam last month at US Summer Nationals to win the ‘B’ final. Despite being off his best time from last month, the swim was still impressive as he entered the season with a lifetime best 1:02.76.
After winning the 400 IM last night, Jake McCoy swam to a win in the 200 backstroke touching in a 2:02.08, dropping over a second off his best time of a 2:03.40 that he swam in March 2024. Both McCoy and Eubanks are Tennessee commits.
The 100 butterfly was a close race as Duncan Salmen earned the win in a 54.43, a tenth ahead of Adam Pannell who touched in a 54.53. Salmen, a Miami-Ohio commit, entered the meet with a best time of a 55.09 that he swam to finish 2nd in the event at this meet a year ago.
The final winner on the boys side was Dylan Mes who was the lone swimmer to get under the 4:00 mark in the 400 free, touching in a 3:59.56. Mes competes collegiately for Denver and entered the meet with a best time of a 4:02.17.
The girls side of the meet was highlighted by Kayman Neal who swam to a 2:14.25 in the 200 backstroke. That was less than a second off her best time of a 2:13.31 that she swam in December 2023. Neal also competed in the 100 fly where she touched 2nd in finals in a 1:01.23. She was slightly faster in prelims with a 1:00.99. Earning the win in the 100 fly was Mena Boardman who touched in a 1:00.45, about a second off her best of a 59.19 that she swam in May at the Pro Series stop in Fort Lauderdale.
16 year old Leila Stafford won the 400 free in a 4:19.08, dropping another second off her lifetime best 4:20.05 from the Pro Series in Fort Lauderdale. Stafford has made huge strides this summer as she entered the season with a lifetime best 4:25.63 that she swam at this meet a year ago for 4th.
Emily Lundgren won the 200 breast on night 1 and earned a win in the 100 breast on night 3, touching in a 1:11.02. She was slightly faster in prelims with a 1:10.79.
