Lawson Ficken on Adjusting to UVA: “I’ve definitely had to relearn a lot of things:

After spending two seasons at Auburn, Colorado native Lawson Ficken announced a transfer to the University of Virginia. Already in Charlottesville and going through what she calls a “boot camp” for the NCAA season, Ficken is enjoying the team so far, albeit taking some time to get used to a lot of change.

The sprint free and fly specialist was a 2-year scorer at the SEC Championships and swam on Auburn’s 15th-place 200 medley relay last season at NCAAs.

She sounds very happy and getting plenty of training that apparently she didn’t have prior. It surprised me that Auburn apparently was light on weights and dry land, tbh. I think she is really going to benefit.

I’m guessing she didn’t swim under Gary at Auburn. Swim Swam …why aren’t you doing more to cover the cover up of Gary’s abusive behavior? He should be at desk job…not on deck!

Nice story. So much for only focusing on the Walshes. Sounds like Todd is working closely with her, another blind critique swatted down.

Aspen is a great talent who probably never flourished at UVa. Hopefully, she will have better luck at UF for her last two years.
