Cal’s Stadden, UNC’s Delmar Named ACC Swimmers of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – In the week 15 set of weekly honors for the 2024-25 Atlantic Coast Conference Swimming & Diving season, North Carolina’s Ben Delmar was named Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Swimmer of the Week while California’s Joshua Thai was named Men’s Diver of the Week. Cal’s Isabella Stadden was named Women’s Swimmer of the Week while North Carolina’s Aranza Vázquez Montaño garnered Women’s Diver of the Week honors.

ACC MEN’S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Ben Delmar, North Carolina, So., Charlotte, North Carolina

Delmar was named the ACC Men’s Swimmer of the Week for the second time this season after a record-breaking weekend against No. 6 NC State. The sophomore out of Charlotte, North Carolina, earned two first-place finishes in the 100 breast (51.44) and the 200 breast (1:51.84), both of which set new program records for the Tar Heels. Delmar also earned a third-place finish in the 200 IM (1:46.44) and helped set yet another school record in the 200 medley with a time of 1:23.26.

ACC MEN’S DIVER OF THE WEEK
Joshua Thai, Cal, Jr., Alhambra, California
Thai earned his second ACC Men’s Diver of the Week award of the season after three podium finishes in the Cal Diving Invitational last weekend. The junior out of Alhambra, California, earned first on the podium with a score of 357.00, third in the 1-meter with a score of 350.80 and third in the 3-meter with a score of 386.50.

ACC WOMEN’S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Isabella Stadden, California, Sr., Blaine, Minnesota

Stadden earned three first-place finishes in No. 10 Cal’s wins over No. 18 USC and No. 24 UCLA. The senior earned first place in the 100 back (50.26), 200 back (1:49.96) and 100 fly (52.19). The Blaine, Minnesota, native also came in second in the 200 free with a time of 1:47.99. This is Stadden’s second ACC Women’s Swimmer of the Week honor of the season.

ACC WOMEN’S DIVER OF THE WEEK
Aranza Vázquez Montaño, North Carolina, Gr., La Paz, New Mexico

Vázquez Montaño was named the ACC Women’s Diver of the Week for the third consecutive week and for the fourth time this season. The La Paz, Mexico, native earned two first-place finishes last week for the Tar Heels. In the 1-meter, Vázquez Montaño scored a 315.60 before turning around and scoring a 339.30 in the 3-meter. Vázquez Montaño now holds 18 ACC Women’s Diver of the Week awards in her career, which is the most in ACC Women’s Diving history.
