VIDEO: Gregg Troy talks about tough Tennessee meet and SEC preparation

Coming off a road loss (on the women’s side) to SEC rival Tennessee, Florida coach Gregg Troy was very candid in his weekly press conference, admitting that a line-up decision on his part may have cost the Gator women the meet.

Troy said the coaching staff switched one of Beisel’s entries in an attempt to make up a lot of points at once. It’s likely Troy was talking about the decision to enter Beisel in the 200 free, a gamble that the Gator senior Olympian could knock off one of Tennessee’s studs for a big point swing. Beisel went a season-best, but Tennessee’s Lindsay Gendron still got to the wall first, and Troy said in his press conference that the Gators might have been better served by entering Beisel elsewhere.

Troy also talked about some adverse travel conditions the Gators faced and the toughness he hopes the team gained from them, as well as the SEC preparation plans for Florida’s group of elite athletes already qualified for the NCAA Championships.
