Santo Condorelli, Daniel Diehl, Dakota Luther To Compete In Futures Champs This Week (Psychs)

Five locations will host some of the top athletes this week. Four meets begin on Wednesday and run through Saturday while Richmond’s location begins Thursday and concludes on Sunday.

Austin Location

The Austin location has a mix of club-aged swimmers and collegiate swimmers. Highlighting the club swimmers is Audrey Derivaux who made the final of the women’s 400 IM at US Olympic Trials at the age of 14. Madi Mintenko also is scheduled to be in attendance in Austin. Michael Cotter recently announced his transfer to Texas after beginning his collegiate career at NC State and is on the psych sheets as well. Dakota Luther is entered in the 100 and 200 butterfly events. Santo Condorelli will also compete this week and was notably ruled ineligible to compete at US Olympic Trials.

Minneapolis Location

Teagan O’Dell will make the trip to Minneapolis from California and is the top seed in the 100 free, 200 free, 200 IM, and 200 back. Maggie Wanezek is the top seed in the 100 back and also highlights the meet.

Sacramento Location

46 year old Gabrielle Rose made headlines at US Olympic Trials making semifinals of the breaststroke events and will continue her career in Sacramento as the top seed in the 100 and 200 breaststrokes. She also is slated to swim the 100 free and 200 IM.

Huntsville Location

15 year old Rylee Erisman finaled in the women’s 50 free at US Trials and is the top seed in the event along with the 100 free, 200 free, and 100 back this week. With his siblings at the Olympics, Andrew Shackell is entered in six events.

Richmond Location

The Richmond location begins a day later. Daniel Diehl is the biggest name in Richmond and is the top seed in all four of his events, the 100 free, 200 free, 100 back, and 200 back. Diehl notably finished 6th in the 200 back at US Trials. Cal commit and US Junior Pan Pac roster member Norvin Clontz will swim in 8 events this weekend.

I’ll be at the Minneapolis event to cheer on my niece who is swimming in 5 events and I rarely get to see her swim in person. Sadly can’t make all the prelims because work, but they are streaming everything at least.

I really hope that Santo’s tapered for this meet we all need to see what he would have gone this year

His in season times this year were solid

Interesting, seemed like Dakota announced her retirement on Instagram after Trials. Perhaps a run at 2028 is in her future!
