Day 3 of the 2024 Summer Sectionals meet in Columbia, MO featured more fast swimming.

Tsunami Swim Team of KC saw 15-year-old Ellis Crisci put up a great performance in the men’s 400 free on Friday night, winning the race in 3:58.58. A rising sophomore in high school, Crisci’s swim was massive for him, blowing away his personal best of 4:03.55, which he had swum back in February. That swim marks the 5th fastest in the country among 15-year-olds this season.

Southern Illinois University’s Celia Pulido pulled out a win in the women’s 100 back, swimming a 1:02.55. Pulido, who represents Mexico internationally, just set her career best of 1:00.60 last month at the Central American and Caribbean Swimming Championships.

Mizzou’s Grant Bochenski clocked a win in the men’s 100 back, swimming a 54.92. Bochenski just set his career best of 54.23 at the Olympic Trials last month. Jack Dahlgren, who put up a great 200 free on Thursday, came in 2nd with a 55.83.

After winning both the women’s 200 free and 400 IM on Thursday, Nebraska’s Gena Jorgenson posted another victory on Friday, this time in the 400 free. Jorgenson won the race decisively, though she was a few seconds off her career best of 4:14.45, which she swam at the Olympic Trials last month.

Nebraska’s Jojo Randby won the women’s 100 breast with a huge swim of 1:09.40. Randby’s swim last night marked her first time under 1:10 in the event.

Mizzou’s Alex Ochsenbein took the men’s 100 breast in 1:02.52. His personal best in the event is a 1:01.97, which he swam at the Spring Columbia Sectionals meet back in March of this year.

The women’s 200 fly saw Nebraska’s Caterina Bisiacchi win in 2:17.39. The swim marks a new career best for Bisiacchi, who clocked her previous PB of 2:17.92 last month.

Sooner Swim Club 16-year-old JD Thumann won the men’s 200 fly in 2:02.67. That swim marked a huge personal best for Thumann, taking nearly 3 seconds off his previous mark of 2:05.11.

Little fact about Ellis Crisci, he is the son of Christopher Crisci who is the lead singer and guitarist for a really incredible rock/indie rock band The Appleseed Cast. I’ve been listening to them for 25 years
