Philadelphia, Pa. – (January 20, 2024) – In its first action of the new semester, the Fordham swimming & diving team split its dual meet against the La Salle Explorers in Philadelphia. The Fordham women extended their dual meet win streak to 27, defeating La Salle, 165-135, while the Fordham men were handed their first loss of the year, 169-129.
For the women, Emilie Krog and Ainhoa Martin were both multi-event winners on Saturday. Krog grabbed first in both distance freestyle events, posting times of 10:50.40 (1000) and 5:14.76 (500), while Martin won the 200 freestyle (1:54.55) and 200 breaststroke (2:18.52).
Six other individuals had event wins for the Rams, beginning with Jane Brown, who won the 100 backstroke in 57.88 seconds, and Emma Shaugnessy, taking the 100 breaststroke in 1:04.47. Jessica Zebrowski won the 200 butterfly (2:08.33) with Leire Martin taking the 200 backstroke (2:04.98). Manon Compagner (100 butterfly – 58.69) and Alison Lin (200 IM – 2:07.55) rounded out the individual winners.
Fordham’s final women’s event win was in the 200 medley relay, where Brown, Shaughnessy, Zebrowski and Zoei Howard took first in 1:45.84.
For the men, Guy Gropper led the way with event wins in the 50 freestyle (20.43) and 100 butterfly (49.10). He was also a part of the winning 400 freestyle relay team with Christian Taylor, Alex Wilhelm, and Alexander Shah, who clocked in at 3:00.78.
Wilhelm also won an individual event, taking the top spot in the 200 freestyle in 1:41.23.
The only other Ram with a first place finish on Saturday was Noah Althoff, who won the 200 individual medley in 1:53.40.
The Rams will next be in action on January 24th at Iona, beginning at 5:00 PM.

PHILADELPHIA – La Salle men’s swim and dive were victorious over the Fordham Rams Saturday morning 169-129, while the women kept it close but lost 165-135. This was the last home meet of the season for La Salle and will end the regular season against Monmouth on Feb. 3.
HOW IT HAPPENED (MEN):
- The Explorer relay team of Tarik Gusic, Andrea Savoca, Felix Jedbratt, and Carter Perkins broke a pool record with their first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:29.69. This is not the first time Savoca has been involved with breaking record this season, this being his first in the relays.
- In the 1000-free, George Williamson took the gold spot for the men, making it the second win of the day. He did so in a time of 9:35.58.
- Gusic earned his second win of the meet in the 100-yard backstroke, coming in at a time of 50.34 seconds.
- In the 100-yard breaststroke, Savoca tallied his second win of the day also. He won the event with a time of 2:08.33.
- Sophomore sensation Felix Jedbratt got his first individual victory of the meet in the 200-butterfly. His first-place finish came in at a time of 1:49.15.
- In the three-meter dive, Lucas Dekaney, Sam Henninger, and Carter Randall took first, second, and third in the event. Their scores, respectively, were 337.35, 311.48, and 301.35.
- Jedbratt’s win total on the day was brought up to three, thanks to his first-place time of 45.46 in the 100-yard freestyle.
- In the 200-backstroke, Gusic had another stellar performance, coming in the top-spot at a time of 1:52.15.
- Savoca secured another win for the Explorers in the 200-breaststroke. He swam it in a time of 2:04.13.
- Williamson won his second distance event of the day, taking the 500-free in 4:37.41.
- In the one-meter dive, the same result ensued for the Explorers with Dekaney, Henninger, and Randall coming in first, second, and third.
HOW IT HAPPENED (WOMEN):
- After being honored on senior day, Raven Domingo and Anwen Byrne each had strong performances in the 1000-freestyle, coming and second and third, respectively.
- Adding to her win total on the season in the freestyle sprints, Toni Rafferty continued to impress on senior day. She took the 50-free with a time of 24.18.
- In the three-meter dive, Tiffany Brawn stood out for the Explorers. The freshman scored a 234.98 to secure first place.
- Rafferty followed up her 50-free win with another win in the 100-free. The winning time for her was 52.98.
- Domingo found second-place again in the distance event. She swam the 500-free in 5:21.61.
- Brawn also took first place in the one-meter dive with her score being 261.30.
- The relay team of Emma van Selm, Toni Rafferty, Tori Fenn, and Rosalia Marin-Martinez found the wall first in the 400-freestyle relay. They did so in 3:33.03.
