Northeastern Cruises Past Vermont On Senior Day

BOSTON — Thanks to four double-winners, the Northeastern swim and dive team (3-1) picked up its third-straight dual meet win against Vermont, 222-76, at Barletta Natatorium Saturday. The Huskies won both diving events and had 14 event wins total en route to the victory.

Prior to the meet, the Huskies honored the graduating senior class of Coco FraserKatherine HongJamie KooSofia LongLizzie MeschisenGrace MillerNikita PelletierAlyssa Reilly and Lena Wang for their contributions to the program.

  • Junior diver Erin Murphy swept the boards events, posting scores of 278.55 and 272.10 in the 3M Dive and 1M Dive. This was her fourth-straight meet with at least one diving win.
  • Senior Grace Miller touched the wall first in both the 200 Free (1:54.93) and 500 Free (5:07.97) to earn her fifth and sixth individual wins of the season.
  • Senior Jamie Koo showed her strength in the 50 Free and the 100 Fly, posting times of 23.37 and 56.27, respectively, to win each event.
  • The 200 IM and 200 Fly crowns both belonged to junior Hannah Seward. She won the 200 Fly with a time of 2:04.78 and swam the 200 IM at 2:06.30.
  • Sophomore Teagan Osga picked up a win in the 100 Back with a time of 58.07, while sophomore Elisabeth Bendall won the 100 Breast at 1:06.09.
  • In the 100 Free, it was sophomore Kotoko Blair who came out on top, with her time of 52.13 beating the next time by more than a second.
  • For her first collegiate win, freshman Joyce Wu earned top marks in the 200 Breast, posting a 2:26.06 time.

This concludes the Huskies’ home meets and dual meets for the 2023-24 season, but they’ll head to the Tate Ramsden Invitational at Dartmouth College Friday, Jan. 19 and Saturday, Jan. 20.

BOSTON, MASS. – The Catamounts fell 222-76 on the road against Northeastern on Saturday (Jan. 13) morning. With the defeat Vermont falls to 5-4 (1-1 AE) while the Huskies improve to 3-1 (0-0 CAA) on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • To begin the day Tannah Proudfoot earned a fifth place finish in the three-meter dive with a score of 219.30.
  • The Catamounts earned a one, two finish in the 1000 free with Ella Church placing first in a time of 10:36.72 and Emily Rocco finishing second in a time of 10:46.55.
  • Hally Laney placed second in the 200 fly with a time of 2:08.32.
  • Proudfoot also placed sixth in the one-meter dive with a score of 222.15.
  • Jackie House placed second in the 100 free with a time of 53.84.
  • House also placed second in the 500 free finishing in 5:20.91.
  • Vermont also earned third and fourth place in the 500 free with Church placing fourth in a time of 5:12.83 and Rocco finishing fifth with a final time of 5:15.49.
  • Laney also placed third in the 100 fly finishing in a time of 58.12.
  • The Catamounts ended the day with a second place finish in the 200 free relay. The combination of Laney, Havana Layton, Anastazja Szukla and House placed second in a time of 1:38.80.

UP NEXT
Following today’s meet with the Huskies the Catamounts will return to Forbush Natatorium on Sunday to face Siena. The start time for that meet is scheduled for 1 p.m. and will be broadcast live on AmericaEast.TV. Sunday’s meet with the Saints will be the Catamounts annual Senior Day presented by MVP Health Advantage.
